The Poopinator at Horizon West Pet Fest 2026: Our Recap

October 19, 2026

A perfect Saturday in Hamlin

Horizon West Pet Fest took over the green space next to Hamlin Garage on Saturday, October 17, from 9 AM to 1 PM. It was free, it was family friendly, and it was packed with dogs in costumes, kids with painted faces, and more wagging tails than we could count.

Big thanks to Horizon West Happenings for putting on such a well-run event, and to the nonprofit partners who made it meaningful: Candy’s Cats, Pet Alliance, Polka Dogz, Rotary Club of Pet Rescues Orlando, and American Legion Post 419. Several local shelters and rescues brought adoptable pets, and watching families meet their new best friend never gets old.

The highlights we didn’t want to miss

We stepped away from the booth a few times, and we’re glad we did:

  • Peanut butter eating contests. Three rounds, zero dignity, pure joy. If you’ve never watched a bulldog take on a spoonful of peanut butter, you’re missing out.
  • Sit Means Sit training demos. Impressive work. Our dogs could learn a thing or two.
  • Pet CPR demo with Hamlin Animal Hospital. The kind of thing you hope you never need and are glad you learned.
  • Best Pets Awards. Ten categories, including Heaviest Hound, Old Timer, Fabulous Feline, and Dynamite Duo.
  • The costume pet parade. Sit Means Sit led it, and the costumes were elite this year.

What was happening at our booth

Our table was stocked with Poopinator rope frisbees, drawstring bags, bone-shaped poop bag dispensers, stickers, hand sanitizer, and two pumpkin buckets of Halloween candy for the kids (okay, and a few parents).

The big hit was our Scan, Spin & Win wheel. Many of you spun wheel and we are excited to be giving away over 50 free yard scoops to our neighbors this year!

Mostly, though, we talked. We met dozens of Horizon West pet parents and heard the same thing over and over: “Wait, you’ll come scoop my yard? Every week?” Yes. That’s the whole job, and we love it.

Why we show up to events like this

The Poopinator is a local business. We serve Horizon West, Hamlin, Winter Garden, Windermere, and the surrounding Orlando communities, and our customers are our neighbors. Events like Pet Fest are our favorite way to meet the families behind the yards we clean, shake hands (and paws), and give back to a community that has been good to us.

Missed us at Pet Fest?

No problem. The spin-to-win fun was a one-day thing, but the clean yard can be every week. Here’s how it works:

  1. Tell us about your yard and your dogs at thepoopinator.com.
  2. We schedule a weekly (or twice-weekly) visit.
  3. We scoop, bag, haul it away, and sanitize our tools between yards.
  4. You step outside without looking down.

Thanks again, Horizon West. Same time next year?
